SULSESC REPORT
by Vic Duke at Galpharm Stadium
IT does not get much better than this (unless you support Chelski, which is boring).
A comprehensive 4-1 win away at the league leaders, thereby becoming the league leaders - WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE!
It could easily have been five or six as United were consistently dangerous on the break. Our two fast young strikers are a real handful on this form. Playing with two wingers also provides a reliable outlet for the defence, plus makes for entertaining, attacking play. A wonderful atmosphere at the away end and a wonderful performance.
Near the top of the table nerves were steadied by an early goal. The Iron were awarded a penalty for a trip on Sharp by their goalie. Beagrie duly sent the goalie the wrong way and celebrated his goal with two back flips - he must be getting fit again!
Huddersfield proceeded to have lots of possession, played lots of pretty sideways passes and totally lacked penetration. Musselwhite had only one save to make.
The Iron defended stoutly and created chances on the break (Sharp was less than sharp on a couple of occasions). Just before half-time a defensive howler gave Keogh a clear run at goal from the halfway line and he finished with a cool low shot past the goalie. Half-time, 2-0 up, looking good.
Huddersfield pulled a goal back after 66 minutes from the penalty spot after a trip by Ryan. On the break United continued to look the more dangerous. Cleveland Taylor cut inside two defenders and hammered a beauty against the bar, Sparrow headed in the rebound. Seven minutes from time a good cross from Sharp was headed in by Keogh. Full time, 4-1, top of the league, feeling great.
A pity that there was such a poor SULSESC turn-out for this great victory. Only Darren and me turned up in the Albert before the match. Andy and one or two others were spotted in the stand at half-time. How some (no names) could prefer North Wales to this, I do not understand.
