SULSESC REPORT

by Neil Wright at Glanford Park

A FRIDAY night game in Scunny...joy of joys for a member of SULSESC!

Okay, for those of us who are able to get away from work, it's not a problem, I appreciate that.

With no possibility of organising a club trip, it was left to Mr. Skeels and myself to set off from South Mimms services at 3 pm for the journey north...in the knowledge that victory tonight would take us top of the league!

Hang on, we've only played four games, how on earth can we be so near to the top? Crazy times so early in the season!

Having met up with Mr. Sumner and Mr. Dook in the Lawyer, a swift pint was had and then it was down to the ground. And so to the match...not a lot to report really.

We were okay first-half, Sharp and Keogh showing early signs of a useful partnership. A ball through from Beagrie coupled with a superb dummy from Sharp in the 34th minute enabled Baraclough to run onto the ball and bury it past the 'keeper from just inside the box.

As the game went on, Southend began to look more dangerous but just didn't have a clue where the United goal was.

The final whistle blew, we won 1-0, went top of the league and me and Mr. Skeels got in the car and drove back south!
